August Favorites 2014

1 Sep

photoI cannot believe that summer is behind us as we move into the beginning of a new season. Although I am excited for pumpkin spice lattes and cozy sweaters, I will miss summer. Summer 2014, thank you for incredible adventures and memories to last a lifetime.

For future “monthly favorites” posts, I will pick my top five favorite products for that month. I think this will keep these posts short and sweet. So after a wonderful summer, here are my August favorites:

Lancôme Maquicomplet concealer: I recently made the switch to a higher-end concealer, and I couldn’t be happier. I realized that a more expensive product would help reduce the puffiness and imperfections under my eyes. After a month, I definitely notice a difference with this product. Click here to purchase this for $30.50.

Estēe Lauder high intensity lip lacquer (color-peach glass): For $25, you can purchase this lip gloss that will last for months! I love how pigmented this gloss is and it smells like cookie dough. I don’t know what could be better than a lip gloss that smells like baked goods.

Revlon color stay liquid liner: I have been struggling to find the perfect liquid eyeliner for years. After many failed shopping trips and recommendations, I finally found one that lasts all day and draws a perfect line on my lids. Purchase for $8.99 at your local drugstore.

Calvin Klein lipstick (color 120-dollface): I have never been a fan of nude lipsticks. Every shade that I’ve tried has made me look awkward. However, this lipstick is the first nude that looks incredible on me. Not to mention it’s affordable ($16) and lasts all-day long.

Estēe Lauder shadow paint (chained): I am obsessed with this neutral-colored paint. I love how a $24 product can last for several months and still give great results. It doesn’t melt off your face, so it’s great for warmer weather. I recommend using as a base for your eyeshadow, or if you’re in a hurry, swipe a few strokes for minimal color.

What have you been loving in August? Leave a comment below or tweet me @BlissBrunette! Enjoy the rest of your day and I will talk to you on Wednesday.

Fall Fashion

Fall Fashion

Sweater weather is the best kind of weather!

I don’t know about you, but I’m excited for fall. I’m currently writing my ultimate fall bucket list. Like this post if you want to know what’s on my fall bucket list! Needless to say, I can’t wait for pumpkin flavored everything for the next few months.

I want to share a go-to, chic and comfy outfit you can wear this season. I have a few staples in my wardrobe during fall including:

1.Oversized sweaters: Whether you love button-down cardigans, boyfriend hoodies, or classic-knit sweaters, make sure to expand your collection this season for a variety of comfort as the temperature begins to cool down.

2. Leggings: People say leggings are a “white girl “staple, but hey, they’re comfortable and allow you to look presentable even though you could secretly sleep in your outfit. Besides, we all need a break from wearing jeans everyday.

3. Riding boots: Yet another staple that I wear everyday in fall.  These can easily dress up your outfit this season with very little effort. Not to mention your feet will stay warm during the change in weather.

4. Fall-inspired makeup: For me, “fall-inspired” makeup means focusing on dark, bold colors like plum, wine, berry, etc. I love looking for deep-colored nail polish and lip colors to try during fall. Experiment and find what you love!

5. Simple accessories: I try to keep my accessories simple and limited during fall. Why deal with weather that will get your hair caught in your earrings, or damage dainty necklaces? Opt for a go-to backpack and some bangles for a sophisticated touch.

And, of course, the most obvious necessity for fall is a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks! I hope you all enjoyed today’s post on fall fashion. Hopefully, you are all looking forward to a new season. Enjoy the rest of your day and I will talk to you on Friday!

Celebrity Fashion Inspiration: Jessica Alba

20 Aug

gal-port-470222953_10-600x400Hello everyone and happy Wednesday to you all.

Today I want to share a new celebrity fashion inspiration featuring the lovely Jessica Alba. For those not familiar with this actress, Alba has been featured in many movies such as Valentine’s Day, Good Luck Chuck in addition to appearing in different television series.

Nowadays, you can catch Alba dressing the perfection combination of trendy and comfy with her children by her side. She is an inspiration for celebrity mothers out there that there is a way to stay stylish while working, parenting, and maintaining a daily schedule of tasks. Alba expresses this grace and elegance in her day-to-day style.

My love for fashion can be traced to classic items, such as a good pair of denim, a white chiffon top and blazer. Some of these items Alba wears frequently. For her, it’s all about finding looks that you can easily dress up or down for different occasions. It can be Jessica+Alba+Stops+By+Rite+Aid+8Uxptpexaukldifficult to have errands to run during the day if you’re dressed uncomfortably. Alba finds her classic, comfy, go-to looks and wears them with a confident smile as she makes the streets her runway. I think anyone, mother or not, can appreciate the smart stylish choices of Jessica Alba.

Are you a lover or hater of the classic, comfy style Jessica Alba has perfected throughout the years? Personally, I always appreciate celebrities who can tackle a busy schedule and stay poised and stylish. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below or on twitter @BlissBrunette. I always love to hear what you all think of celebrity style.

I have two dream vacations in mind. One would be visiting an island (Bora Bora, Santorini and Fiji are my top three choices) and take a week to have adventures. Half of my time would be spent scuba diving, parasailing, jetskiing and kayaking, and the other half would be trying unique foods from the island, hiking, mountain climbing and ziplining.
