Beauty tricks using Vaseline

Vaseline is one of those products that can be used for many different beauty hacks. What’s great is that you can buy a large container for pennies at a drugstore. This multi-purpose product will make big changes in your beauty routine.

1. Eye makeup remover: If you want an inexpensive makeup remover that won’t be harsh on your eyes, Vaseline is the perfect option. Simply place some on a cotton pad and gently remove eye makeup.

2. Eyelash conditioner: Conditioning your lashes with Vaseline has a lot of benefits, especially for those looking to strengthen them for bold eyelashes. Use a cotton swap and using a mascara-applying motion to cover your lashes.

3. Hide split ends: In between hair cuts, rub a bit of Vaseline in your hair to protect it if split ends begin to show. This is keep your hair looking polished between salon visits.

4. Cream blush: Apply Vaseline with your favorite lip color to create the perfect crème blush for your cheeks. Vaseline isn’t harsh on skin, so you’ll have a mini moisturizer and blush in one.

5. Perfume treatment: Dab Vaseline on the spots you plan to spray perfume before you leave the house. Vaseline has properties that along the product to last longer throughout the day.

Running Benefits + Tips

I just recently began running again to be more active and healthy. I decided to do more reading on the benefits of running, and some tips on how to make it more enjoyable.


1. Better Mood: Running, or any other type of cardio, releases endorphins, which are hormones that put you in a great mood. You’ll instantly feel happier after a workout, which is why working out or running can become so addictive.

2. Control over your life: This happiness and better mood will naturally create more confidence in your life. If you keep up with running on a regular basis, you’ll find that you can take on the day easily without struggle. You’ll have control.

3. Strong immune system: Running builds up your immune system, which means less tissues and medicine you need to buy throughout flu season. You’re body is building up its strength by running regularly, so you’ll have better overall health.


1. Bring a Buddy: I always find that it’s easier to stick with a workout or activity if you have a friend to join you. That way, you’re both accountable for each other. Make a goal with your friends to run three days a week for the month. Once you meet your goal, increase your goals consistently.

2. Treat yourself: Once you reach a weekly or monthly goal, treat yourself to a new outfit or dessert. You deserve to spoil yourself. Whether you want to go all-out for an expensive meal, or buy yourself a dress.

3. Mix-up your scenery: You don’t need to run a mile everyday on the treadmill. The purpose of running is to feel good about your activity, not be bored from it. Run a mile at the gym one day, then run on a local trail another day. Changing your scenery will keep running fun and exciting.

Celebrity Fashion Inspiration: Lily Collins

21ec9498ce045c02e84cc9a5a4cec278Hello everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the week so far. Today I want to share a celebrity fashion inspiration post featuring actress Lily Collins. I have been thinking who I would write about for this weeks post, and I recently saw Collins featured for an upcoming movie in 2015 and knew I had to choose her.

Collins has an incredible sense of fashion whether she is attending an event or walking the streets going about her day. I love how eclectic her style is. One day, you can catch Collins dressed to the nines wearing a feminine dress and heels, and the next day she can rock a pair of jeans, slouchy top, jacket and her hair in a bun (below). She manages to change her 65963ee778909506bf34b17fd8df38edstyle frequently all while remaining poised, elegant and trendy.

Aside from her tasteful sense of fashion, Collins has natural beauty, which she utilizes to her advantage by keeping her hair natural with minimal makeup on a regular basis. It’s always nice to see celebrities who aren’t afraid to bare their naked face in public. It’s a great example for women who lack the confidence that others might have.

Another concept I appreciate about Collins’ style is that she always knows how to change her look without losing her sense of style or what she’s comfortable with. Oftentimes, people update their looks for a change and they end of changing their personalities. I love that Collins can always be herself and look fabulous while doing it.

What is your acne telling you?

0d1cecc457d78dc02570c2aeb9a805dcHave you ever wondered why your prone to get acne on your cheeks, nose or chin? Your body is trying to tell you something by where your pimples are located! Next time you see acne in a certain spot, you’ll know how to treat the problem for good!

Forehead: Digestive System: Eat less processed food and reduce the amount of fat in your diet.

Between your eyebrows: Liver: Cut out the alcohol and greasy food. This is the zone where food allergies show first. Always read the ingredients in your food.

Side of your face: Kidneys: Anything around the eyes, including dark circles, are directly correlated to dehydration. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Nose: Heart: Check your blood pressure regularly and try to lower cholesterol by replacing “bad fats” with “good fats.” Eat Omegas 3 and 6, which can be found in nuts, avocados, fish and flax seed.

Ears and jawline: Kidneys: Again, drink up! If you can, try to cut down on drinks packed with sugar, coffee and alcohol because they cause even more dehydration.

 Under your eyes and upper cheeks: Respiratory system: Do you smoke or have allergies? This is a problem area for both. If neither of these is the issue, try to cut down on sugar and get more fresh air. Another issue could be a dirty cell phone or pillow case, which are two of the top acne responses in this area.

Sides of your chin: Hormones: This is the target zone for stress. Make sure get adequate sleep, drink water, eat leafy green veggies and keep up with your proper skincare.

Chin: Stomach: Add more fiber to your diet and drink herbal teas to help with digestion.

Neck: Illness: Zits here can be a sign that your body is fighting bacteria. Take one day to rest, mediate, relax and reduce high activity for that day.

Wearing white in autumn

There are many trends I love to bring from summer into autumn. Wearing white is definitely one of those trends that I am obsessed with. Whether you wear white jeans, sweaters or accessories, keep anything you own that’s white handy this season.

I decided to incorporate my love for white by adding accessories that utilized gold to tie my pieces together. For example, the watch (Betsy Johnson) cross-body bag (Michael Kors) and wrap bracelet (Alexander McQueen) all include gold details in them. I think this gives a symmetrical aspect to your fall look.

I wanted to create an outfit that stepped out of my comfort zone. I love burgundy and blue hues during fall, but they way I paired them together in this outfit is something I wouldn’t normally wear. I have never worn a midi skirt before, although it’s on my fashion wish list, and I’ve never paired a sweater with a skirt before. I’ve seen looks similar to the one I created throughout Pinterest, and it’s a look I hope to wear in the near future. I also hope to purchase more ankle boots in the future. I only have riding boots in my closet at the moment, and I love them, but I want to expand my boot collection!

One of my goals as an aspiring fashion journalist is to illustrate that it’s okay to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. You don’t have to follow “rules” or limit yourself because of your size. The best accessory you can wear is a smile, so as long as you have that, you’ll look fabulous in anything. Hence why I created a look that wasn’t normal for me to wear.

Bath & Body Works Fall Haul

photoEven though it’s the beginning of September, I’m excited for fall to officially begin. I can easily say that fall is my favorite time of the year with fashion, beauty, treats and more! Who doesn’t love pumpkin spice flavored…EVERYTHING!?

I didn’t want to go all-out for my first fall haul, so here is a mini haul from my weekend trip to Bath & Body Works. Disclaimer: I left out two large candles from the photo, but I will list the ones I purchased below!

Body Products:

Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Trio: I purchased this last fall and it was easily one of my favorites for the season, so I knew it would be a repurchase this year. If you want the epitome of fall on your body, this is the scent to get! I purchased the body lotion, body wash and body spray.


Sweater Weather: I bought two of these candles: one large jar (not pictured) and one mini (above). This was one of my favorite scents, so I knew it would be another favorite again. The description reads: “Cuddle up with an aromatic blend of eucalyptus, juniper berry and fresh sage that celebrates the arrival of crisp autumn breezes.”

Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow: This candle will definitely be my new “fall favorite” for candles this season. The description reads: “A sweetly comforting blend of vanilla and pumpkin marshmallow.” You will fall in love with this scent guaranteed.


Room Spray: I bought a room spray because it’s nice to have an inviting smell when guests come over. I opted for Lavender Vanilla: “A blend of lavender and creamy vanilla with touches of cedarwood, delicate jasmine and citrus.”

Tray: I fell in love with this tray and knew I had to buy it! I place some of my everyday jewelery on it. it’s makes a great piece for my dorm room. And, for $10.50, it’s inexpensive and can be used throughout the year. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find an online link.

Alternative Cardio Workout

no-treadmillDo you hate spending time on the treadmill or elliptical to get your 30 minutes of cardio each workout? I hear ya, it’s not enjoyable. Spending time on machines can really make the time go by slow, and running can be so repetitive that it loses its effect on one’s body.

One of my favorite ways to get my cardio is in through waterfall workouts. I simply pick five different cardio moves and incorporate a scale of how many I want to do in one set. So, beginning with 10, I’ll complete the moves in a circuit until I reach 1, then I’ll go back up that circuit until I reach the beginning number.

Here is the workout, which I recommend completing two to three times to begin with. When you gain the stamina to complete the circuit more often, increase you about five times each day. This will easily help rev up your metabolism in under eight minutes.

8 Squats

7 Mountain Climbers

6 Burpees

5 Jumping Jacks

4 Diamond Jumps

3 Squats

2 Mountain Climbers

Wow! That seems like a lot to handle at first. Just begin this workout once or twice to get the movements down. Once you gain confidence and stamina, you’ll burn fat in no time at all.
