Review: Que Bella mud mask

dead sea mud mask - newHello there everyone and happy Monday! I hope you had a relaxing weekend. I’m excited to say that I had a great shopping trip Saturday. Like this post if you want to see a haul on back-to-school clothes I purchased.

Today I want to share a new face mask with you I used during a pamper evening. Once in awhile, I like to treat myself to a Friday night in and give myself a chance to pamper myself from a long, exhausting week. Face masks are my favorite way to do that.

The treatment I used was the replenishing Dead Sea mud mask from Que Bella. You get a ton of product in a package, which is great for those who are looking to use this more than once. I guess that you can get 2-3 uses from one package.

To apply, I wash my skin as normal. I use the Cetaphil daily facial cleanser, which you can purchase at any drugstore. After, I applied the face mask and let it sit for 15 minutes. During this time, I lay down, listen to music, and relax. I use lukewarm water and a washcloth to gently remove the mud mask off my face and apply my current nighttime moisturizer.

What I love about this mask is how revitalizing my skin feels while the mask dries. When it’s on my skin, I feel it working its magic. I also noticed this works great for minimizing pores. I recommend using this product at night; you will notice a huge difference in your skin in the morning.

Power Foods I Eat!

Hello everyone and happy Friday. I hope you are excited for the weekend!

Today I want to talk about power foods (also known as super foods). There are different categories of power foods you can eat to benefit your body. There are power foods linked to a healthy heart or brain, and there are power foods targeted for weight loss or clear skin.

Here are some of my favorite go-to, power foods that I eat regularly. Each food serves its own purpose in my diet.

BerriesBerries: I love strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. I have about 1/2 of blueberries each morning in my oatmeal. During summer, I snack on strawberries and raspberries daily. They are filled with antioxidants, which benefits your skin, but they are equally great for brain power. Berries also help to prevent heart disease.WALNUT_1401733189

Walnuts: Another power food I have in my oatmeal every morning. They are a great source of protein and work wonders for your skin. You only need a small handful to get the healthy benefits from this food.

ganze und halbe avocado isoliert auf weissAvocados: Avocados contain healthful monounsaturated fat, which can reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. They regenerate blood and tissue, and stabilize blood sugar. They’re loaded with fiber (11 to 17 grams) and contain antioxidants linked to eye and skin health. I cut up a half of an avocado in my salads.

indexSpinach: I make a spinach salad several times a week. For me, spinach is a great source of potassium (which I lack in my system), so I try to incorporate foods with high levels of potassium. It’s also loaded with iron and omega-3 fatty acids. Spinach also keeps your bones and eyes healthy!

Celebrity Fashion Inspiration: Elle Fanning

Today I want to share another celebrity fashion inspiration featuring actress Elle Fanning. She has been a huge inspiration for me recently and I think she should get more credit for her style.

Fanning is one of the younger celebrities I know who will always inspire me regarding fashion. I am constantly impressed with her creative, eccentric style. She can easily mix up different looks and trends while looking effortlessly chic. This is a quality I hope to possess someday.

Another feature I love about Fanning’s style is how she can make each look her own. She’s capable of understanding a new trend and creating her own twist to show her individuality and artistic side.

In an interview with Vogue, Laura and Kate Mulleavy discussed Elle’s capability to illustrate her creative and artistic sense of style.

“Elle has an inner spirit that lights up every room. She is one of the most kind and special people that we have had the privilege of knowing. Elle is so talented and creative, and fashion is one of the many ways that she so eloquently expresses her artistic nature.”

Many people have noted Fanning’s whimsical style. If she’s scoring interviews with Vogue, she makes strong impact in the world of fashion. I think we should give credit where credit is due; Elle Fanning is a fashion powerhouse of unique style that can easily inspire anyone.

Fitness Inspiration

Hello everyone and happy Friday! I’ve been home from Italy for less than two weeks and I finally feel on track with my diet and fitness plan.

Summertime is an overwhelming season because of pressure to stay fit while looking like a model, but do NOT give in to that pressure. It’s difficult but you don’t need to workout seven days a week while limiting yourself to one meal a day to stay fit. Simply find fitness inspiration that inspires you to be the best version of yourself. Don’t feel compelled to do a workout because it burns more calories. Find what activities work for you and your schedule and go from there.

I like to find a balance between indoor and outdoor workouts. I take my dog every morning for a 30-40 minute walk with running intervals. I feel motivated to walk her because I know it keeps her healthy and happy and I am giving myself the same benefits. I’m not saying, “Go buy a dog!” (Even though you should and send me pictures because I LOVE THEM) but find someone who will motivate you to workout. It’s equally important to seek self-motivation as well as motivation from others.

Aside from running and walking, I like to jump rope (3 to 5 sets of 100) on days I need a quick workout. When I have more time, I like to go to spinning classes because I challenge myself each time to do better.

I like to use simple equipment to strength train at home such as free weights for my arms, a resistance band for my arms and legs and a stability ball for my abs. You can utilize these three items to stay toned without going to a gym. Another at-home workout you can do (indoor or outdoor) is yoga. This is a great way to relax while working out your muscles. You’ll feel stronger, healthier and happier from it.

Finally, I think it’s important to buy workout apparel that will make you want to workout, so buy cute shorts, tops and sneakers to wear because you’ll feel good about going out for a run or going to the gym.

Celebrity Fashion Inspiration: Olivia Palermo

Today, I want to share a celebrity fashion inspiration post featuring the beautiful Olivia Palermo. Palermo is a style icon and socialite who defines classy and chic with her style and wardrobe.

If I had to choose one celebrity’s closet to raid, it would definitely be Palermo’s. I am obsessed with her style because she encompasses elegance, sophistication and grace with every outfit she wears.

When searching for different looks on Pinterest, Palermo is the first girl I look to for daily fashion inspiration. Whether Palermo is out at an event or running errands during the day, she always manages to look effortlessly flawless regardless if she’s wearing a Met Gala gown, or jeans and a button-down shirt.

I love how Palermo focuses on unique, staple pieces for her outfits. For example, in the image below, she wears two simple pieces: a nude sweater and navy blue skirt, but she adds gorgeous shoes spice up the outfit. She keeps her looks balanced with both simple and elegant items. I love how Palermo uses femininity as a strong element for her style. She’s poised, beautiful and knows how to pair different items together to express her feminine side. Palermo does this in way that can easily inspire any women to dress nice on a day-to-day basis. Anytime Palermo is out in public, she always looks put-together and stylish. It reminds me of  Italy where everyone looked perfect whether they were going to work or shopping at the market for food.

Beach Day Beauty Essentials

photo 2Hello everyone and happy Monday, I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend (for any bloggers living in the states).

Today I want to share my beach day beauty essentials for days spent at lake or pool to relax and work on that summer glow.

Of course, aside from a bathing suit, flip flops and a towel, there are a few extra items I like to have on hand whether I’m in my backyard or at the beach. Tweet me @BlissBrunette to tell me your beauty essentials.

Water (and snacks): Dehydration, sun poisoning or heat stroke are never fun! Make sure to stay hydrated throughout the day and bring a water bottle or two.

Magazines: This isn’t a “beauty” essential, but reading material is an essential anytime I lay out at the pool or beach. As much as I love to sleep outside in the sun, I prefer to spend my time reading a book or magazine to keep myself occupied.

Lip Balm: I am obsessed with my owl lip balms. This strawberry flavor is good enough to eat! It’s important to keep your lips moisturized while bathing in the sun.

Cleansing Towelettes: I normally use these to remove my makeup at night, but I’ll pack a travel-sized version to bring along when I feel sweaty and sticky from the water, sand and heat. I love this brand from Burt’s Bees because they’re inexpensive and work well on your body.

Sunscreen/Lotion: I don’t burn (ever) but after getting sun poisoning and heat stroke in Rome, I never plan to go without sunscreen photo 1again. Even though I don’t burn, my skin felt horrible from the intense heat. I also pack regular lotion for a nice scent throughout the day. I have been loving French Lavender & Honey from Bath & Body Works.

Hair ties: It’s annoying to have your hair hanging in your face at the beach, especially in the breezy air with the sand. I love that these don’t leave creases in my hair when I take them out.

Sunglasses: I don’t know how anyone can lay out without sunglasses. I can’t with contacts because my eyes are naturally more sensitive, so sunglasses are a must-have item during summertime.

And, of course, you need a beautiful beach bag to put everything in. Pick your go-to beach bag for all your essentials.

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday.

Today I want to share something I’ve been searching nonstop: bag inspiration. I’ve seen different magazine articles, Pinterest boards and tweets about people loving different statement bags that are fun and unique for summertime. Needless to say, I have jumped on this fashion bandwagon for the season.

Statement accessories began last year when the statement necklace became a popular trend. Still prominent today, necklaces aren’t the only items making statements this season. Bags and clutches have been pushing their way into the spotlight for celebrities and fashion-lovers alike.

One of my favorite bags I used in my collage is the daisy bag, which was featured in Ingrid Nilson’s (Missglamorazzi) recent Fourth of July video.I love how well this works for summer outfits. Ingrid modeled this bag perfectly for her video.

I originally found the elephant bag and owl bag on Pinterest, and I am obsessed because my love for both animals is too much for the world to handle, so I needed to include them in my bag inspiration post.

I think the most unique bag out of the selection is the Kate Spade, camera-inspired bag. This is a perfect gift to give to a photography lover in your life. I found this originally on Shopbop.com.

And, of course, summertime is great for fruit. This pineapple bag works great for the fruit lovers of the world. Pineapple happens to be my favorite fruit. Like if your favorite summer fruit is pineapple!
