Birthday Haul

21 Apr

photoHello and happy Monday!

Some of you liked my last post as a request to see what I got for my birthday. So, I’m going to share part of what I got with you. Quick disclaimer: I’m not including clothing or fashion items because I am planning on writing a separate post on that. Be on the lookout for that within the next few weeks!

So, here’s what I got for my 20th birthday. I’ll make sure to link everything I can.

My boyfriend surprised me on my birthday with my first massage ever at Season’s Spa and it was incredible. Needless to say, I’ll be scheduling more massages throughout the year. Although there’s not a picture of that, it had to be mentioned because it was the best gift I received this year.

Candles: You all know about my serious candle addiction. Two candles I got were Pineapple Mango (my all-time favorite candle) and Strawberry Sorbet. Both were from Bath & Body Works and both scents were on my wish list for spring.

Body: I got two different lotions and a perfume. The perfume was the Marc Jacobs Daisy Delight perfume from Ulta. I am obsessed with this scent. If you loveย  floral-based perfume, check out this scent! This was another product on my wish list items for spring. I also received two lotions from Bath & Body Works: French Lavender & Honey and Sweet on Paris, which unfortunately, I couldn’t find on their site. (Apologies!)

Random: I also got some random gifts including the mini hipster bag from Vera Bradley in the color Clementine. I can’t wait to take this bag to Italy this summer. I also received the take note cube and ball-point pen in the color Julep Tulip. Finally, I got my first Alex and Ani bracelet from my best friend. It was the compass charm, which might be difficult to see against the Vera Bradley pattern in the photo.

Excluding any fashion gifts, that sums up what I got for my birthday! I hope you all enjoyed today’s post. Like this post if you enjoyed reading it! Enjoy the rest of your day and as always, I will talk to you all soon.

Changing my tagline

19 Apr

bday-201Yesterday was my 20th birthday. (Like this post if you want to see a birthday haul.)

I know it doesn’t seem like a big deal on the surface, but, for me, it was big. Turning 20 meant I was no longer a teenager. I loved being a teenager. I had many wonderful, teen memories over the last seven years.

I’m embarking on a new part of my life, my twenties. I can’t wait to begin this 10-year-long journey.

For me, there will be many great things happening throughout my first year in my twenties. In May, I’ll be setting off to live on my own in Italy for five weeks to study abroad. In August, I’ll begin graduate school while pursuing my undergraduate. Not many 20-year-old students can say that.

The truth is, I’m excited for my twenties. But, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little overwhelmed. Soon, I’ll be graduating, looking for a job and moving out on my own during my twenties. I guess that’s the reality. You realize you need to be independent more and more as the years go on. But, it all starts when you’re 20 because you’re no longer a teenager.

As much as I love being an adult, I love being a kid. I had a great childhood and I found myself more nostalgic yesterday.

Did any of you have this excited yet overwhelming feeling when you turned 20? If you did, make sure to leave a comment below! I’d love to hear what you all have to say.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day and as always, I will talk to you all soon.

Quick + Easy workouts (under five minutes)

15 Apr

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday. I hope you all are enjoying the week so far!

Today I want to share some of my favorite workout videos from YouTube. These are short, simple workouts under five minutes long. So, there’s no excuse as to why you can’t do them.

Since it’s the last few weeks of the semester, and finals are just around the corner, I don’t have time to go to the gym for a two-hour workout. Sometimes I only have 20 to 30 minutes in the morning to workout. So, I have changed my routine for the last month of school and I still see positive results.

These three videos I have been loving this month. I complete each video twice before moving on to the next one. It’s fun when there’s music involved. And the routines are simple enough to follow while getting a great workout.

The ab video features Karena from Tone it Up! If you love simple workouts that truly give definition to your legs, arms and abs, you will love Karena and Katrina. Subscribe to the YouTube channel for great workout options.

What do you guys do to workout when you have limited time? Leave a comment below with other suggestions I can incorporate in my schedule.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and as always, I will talk to you all soon.

Top 10 beauty products

13 Apr

Hello everyone and happy Sunday. Today I want to share my top 10 beauty products of all time. Some products I have recently discovered within the last few months, and others I have used for years. Make sure to leave a comment telling me what you top products are of all time! Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Lotion: Stress Relief eucalyptus spearmint by Bath & Body Works. For $13, I think you’re getting your bang for your buck on this product. It’s calming and soothing on the skin, especially if you apply it before bed.

Cleanser: Cetaphil daily facial cleanser. I love how well this removes any dirt and built-up oils on my skin from a long day. I’ve been using this product for about four years and I’m still hooked.

Mascara: Maybelline the rocket mascara. This will be the 6th time I’ve purchased the rocket mascara. I have yet to try a new formula that I found better than this one. It give me a false-lash look without wearing false lashes.

Oil treatment: Garnier Frucits Moroccan oil treatment. I’ve been using this product since last year and I have noticed a change in the ends of my hair. It’s stronger, shiner and healthier because of this product. If you have problems with frizz, I would recommend this oil treatment. And, it’s only $5.

Concealer: Revlon photoready concealer. I always find myself going back to this concealer because other formulas seem to cake on my skin. I love how well this works on acne and under-eye circles. It works perfect on days when you don’t wear foundation orย  BB cream.

Perfume: Polo Ralph Lauren #2. My go-to scent all-year long in the #2 from the Big Pony collection. I am obsessed with this perfume regardless of the season. If you love a versatile scent, I recommend this product.

Lip product: EOS lip balms. I have an addiction to these lip balms. I own every flavor and a few duplicates of them, too. I love how soft they leave my lips and they are great additions to gifts!

Hair tool: Hot tools curling iron. ย Everyone has that one hair tool they love. For me, it’s my hot tools curling iron. I can achieve effortless waves in less than eight minutes. I love how many ways you can style your hair with this one tool.

Nail Polish: Essie Coral. Coral is my first choice for nail polish, especially in spring and summer. Most days, from March to October, you’ll find this color on my nails. I am in love with the coral options by Essie.

Eyeshadow palette: Naked 3. Everyone and their mother has raved about the new Naked palette. I love how compatible the palette is with my skin tone and eye color. It’s a perfect fit for my taste in eyeshadow and I love the pigmentation of the product as well. Although it’s a little pricey, it’s worth the splurge.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post. Enjoy the rest of your day and as always, I will talk to you all soon.

Spring Fever: intricate fashion and bold purple

12 Apr

Hello everyone and happy Saturday. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend so far.

As the weather gets warmer, the more excited I am for spring and summer, especially spring and summer fashion. After months of boots, thick sweaters and excessive layers of clothing, I’m ready for shorts, crop tops and sandals.

Like this post if you’re excited for spring and summer!

Today I want to share some of my favorite trends coming up this season for 2014. Make sure to leave a comment below telling me what your favorite trends are for spring and summer.

April 11 to 13 and April 18 to 20 is Coachella. I was inspired by this art and music festival for my outfit. Leave a comment telling me if you what to go to Coachella someday!

My first favorite is bold, bright purple. I am obsessed with purple all-year long, but I’m loving neon purple nails and accessories. I love this nail polish from Essie’s 2013 neon collection, and the bright purple in the the statement necklace.

I also love detailed tops for spring and summer. The top above is from Forever 21, which you can purchase here for $18. I love how great this will work with shorts or jeans during the summer. A simple, classic top can be transformed from causal to dressy with intricate detailing.

Another detail I love this season is lace and crochet tops, shorts, etc. Lace boomed with popularity last year, but it reappeared for another season. Needless to say, I couldn’t be happier. I love the femininity of lace, especially in white or off-white items. The shorts above are from for $19.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post and I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day. As always, I will talk to you all soon.

Take care of your skin! + tips and more

6 Apr

Hello everyone and happy Sunday!

Today I want to share some easy ways to take care of your skin better. As you all know, your skin is sensitive, so it’s important to take care of it everyday.

First, it’s important to find out your skin type in order to properly take care of your skin. I have combination skin, which means I have some oily and dry areas on my skin. It’s best to find products suitable for your type.

Pillowcases and towels matter! You should wash your towels, sheets and especially pillowcases once a week. Even if you take off your makeup each night and wash your face, you still have impurities on your skin that build up on your sheets throughout the week. Also, clean your phone screen regularly because bacteria builds up on your phone and will cause oil buildup on your skin. If you have acne near your temples or along the sides of your skin, it could be because you don’t clean these items frequently.

It’s also important to make sure you follow your morning skincare routine properly. with toners, serums, and other products, it’s hard to know what to use and when you use it. Here’s the order you should follow each morning.

1. Wash your face with warm water and a mild cleanser that is fit for your skin type.

2. Apply a toner and wait for it to air dry. Toner is for people who have oily skin.

3. Apply any acne medications as necessary, such as Epiduo.

4. Apply eye cream or serum to your skin and wait for it to dry. It will help prevent collagen damage.

5. Apply moisturizer that contains at least 30 SPF to protect your skin from sun damage.

6. Begin makeup routine as normal.

Another tip is to avoid spraying perfume on your face when you’re spraying near your neck. The elements that are in perfume give that smell you love, but can cause irritation to your face. Make sure to spritz cautiously.

A final tip is to be mindful of your hair products. Mousses, oil treatments and other products have agents in them that will clog pores. When applying hair treatments and products, make sure they don’t get on your face and make sure to wash your hands after applying hair products.

I hope you enjoyed today’s tips on how to take care of your skin with some simple tips. If you have any other suggestions, make sure to leave a comment below! Enjoy the rest of your day and I will talk to you soon.

DIY Creation: teeth whitener

3 Apr

StrawberriesHello everyone and happy Wednesday! I hope you are all enjoying the week so far. The first few days of April have been wonderful because of the weather. I’m excited for what else April has to offer.

Today I want to share a simple and inexpensive DIY creation that will help whiten your teeth!

All you’ll need is strawberries and baking soda. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

1. Crush two to three strawberries until it has a pulp-like consistency.

2. Add a teaspoon of baking soda to paste and combine until thoroughly blended.

3. Use toothbrush to apply paste to your teeth and leave it on for five minutes.

4. Remove paste by rinsing with cool water.

For best results, apply this paste once a week.

I hope you all enjoyed this post on how to whiten your teeth with strawberries! Leave a comment below telling me if you have heard of this idea, or have tried it and have had positive results. I’d love to hear from you guys.

Enjoy the rest of your day and as always, I will talk to you all soon.
